PTO Minutes from March 25, 2010 Meeting

Cookie Dough Fundraiser

2 years ago take home profit of about $2,000

40% profit for 1st 500 orders, 50% profit on all orders above 500

 

Academic Fair Fundraiser

May 6th: Spaghetti Dinner  

 

Teacher Appreciation

Scheduled for June during the 3 early dismissal days.

One idea from Mrs. Vetter is to get Business cards for each teacher from Idea Press Printing.

Food Festival during these days: Breakfast, Lunch, Chocolate

  

Mini Grants

~Mrs. Corace will be reimbursed $300 for field day expenses

~OM groups were given $100 each ($200 total) to go to state

~Ice Cream or Pizza will be bought for K-2 after the SAT 10

 

Fundraisers

~Barnes & Nobles Fundraiser in Fort Myers on April 3rd.  Volunteers are needed.  Parents need to bring their coupon.

~Book Fair is the 1st week in May.  Volunteers are needed.

Volunteer requests will be posted on the PTO website.

 

Boxtops & Canopy

To date we have earned about $1,000.  Mrs. Vetter will research the cost of the canopy.  A discussion was held to set up an account to save for the canopy.  Some of the PTO money from this year could be put into this account to help earn the money faster.

 

PTO discussed contributing money to grade levels at the end of the year.

Box Tops Update

The box tops effort is still in effect. Totals have dwindled after initial kick.

 

Odyssey of the mind

Mrs. Goodman had approached the PTO with a request to support her Odyssey of the mind team.   The PTO has decided to pay for the $75 entry fee.  PTO is going to support their Stevie Tomatoes Fundraiser.  Other fundraising ideas were discussed including the next fall festival.

 

Cookie Dough Fundraiser

Starts March 19th

When on order is placed, students will give the buyer a card which the individual sends in. The cookie dough will be delivered directly to that house. 

 

Academic Fair Fundraiser

May 6th: Spaghetti Dinner  

 

Future Fundraisers

PTO discussed having a Holiday House fundraiser next year.

Questions were raised about where it would be: stage, empty class, etc.

  

Upcoming Fundraising Requests

Mrs. Vetter submitted a list of upcoming funding requests for the rest of the year.  See attached sheet.

 

Mrs. Darley discussed a 1st grade field trip to the Imaginarium and Shell Factory.  The cost would be $9.00 for students and $11.00 for adults.  This includes bus and admission.  PTO would cover the cost of children who could not afford to pay.

Possible dates were: January 28th, February 18th, and February 20th

PTO Notes from October 15, 2009 Meeting

 

PTO Drive participation winners were announced from each grade level.

K-Hinote, 1st- Suhrie,  2nd Kerans,  3rd Campion,  4th Goodhind, 
5th Feather & Johnson

 

Fall Catalog Sales:

Last year grossed $12,000  Profit $5,600

This year grossed $18,000  Profit should be @ $8,000

Having the PTO fundraiser before the entertainment book helped.

Playfest is set for Wednesday, November 18th

 

Fall Festival:  October 28 

Ronda Thomas reported on Concessions and profits of each

Jill Conforte reported on construction of the Haunted House

Margaret D’Angelo reported on Donations from Businesses

 

Box Tops

Collection of box tops is going really well.

After the sheet is filled, students can put extras in a ziplock and write Child name, Teacher name, and quantity.  They can also tape extras to a paper.

 

Communication:

Website for PTO should be up and running within a week

When completed slips will be sent home to parents announcing the site

TrafalgarPTO.com

10 page site for 1 year is $106

This will be reimbursed to Evan and Dian.

The site will include a “Wish List” page for teachers.  This will be maintained by Evan and Dian.

 

Ronda will write the PTO column for the Trafalgar Gazette in November, and report on the Fall Festival.

PTO Notes from September 3, 2009 Meeting

 

Summary of Last Meeting:

June 2009

PTO dues fund    $944.96 General Fund  $6,391.22 

September 2009:

PTO dues fund $1052.96   General Fund  $2,308.76

 

SAC and PTO will switch times.  SAC 6:00 and PTO 6:30

 

PTO Drive ends September 28th

$3 for 1 child  $5 for a family  (Free chicken sandwich from Chik-fi-la with membership)

 

Fall Fundraiser- started September 2 and will end September 16

40% profit on magazines  50% profit on products  (48% is sales are less than $8000)

Kids need to sell 5 items to go to the playfest

 

Fall Festival:  October 28 

1 Night and Open to the whole community

Partner with middle school

Committee will be formed and meet on Thursday, September 17th at 6:00

Need volunteers to help with concessions stands, games, inflatables, setting up and running the haunted house

Will also need various items such as generators, strobe light, etc.

 

Box Tops

Potential up to $20,000

Earned $900 last year:  Saving for a playground cover

Talked about incentives for kids to bring box tops in such as a sheet to put them on, pencils, erasers, etc.

 

Box tops has other $Opportunities

Marketplace:  Various online stores in which the school gets a kickback

Reading Room Program:  Barnes and Nobel will give a 5% kickback to the school

 

Other Money Opportunities include cell phones and ink cartridges which are collected in the computer room 

The Sunny D website will give 20 books for 20 UPC codes  Expires November 14th

Subway will give gift cards that parents can prefill and use.  The school will get a 2% kickback.

 

Discussed developing a flyer of opportunities to support the school

 

Spring Fund Raiser: Cookie Dough Sale

Children will purchase voucher for cookie dough tubs.  School distributes the vouchers, and parents order cookie dough on the internet.  It will be sent directly to their house, so the school is not responsible for storing.

$16 per tub  40% profit

 

Communication:

Kim Purdy and Tara Golub will be submitting a  PTO column for the Trafalgar Gazette each month

Evan and Dian Ziegler will work with Karen Gonzalez to set up, maintain, and update a PTO page which will be linked to Trafalgar’s website.

 

Vision and Hearing Screens will be October 1st….Need volunteers for crowd control

Picture day will be coming soon and we will need volunteers to help with that

 

Mrs. Fainer requested raincoats and umbrellas for parent pickup.  There are 25 people.

 

Walmart donated 10, $100 gift certificates for Trafalgar teachers.  Thank you Harry and Donna K
